The ‘First Impression’

We all make Assumptions of what we see at the first sight, don’t we? We all believe, ‘First Impression is the last impression’, but why do we believe what we believe?

According to me, this belief comes from what people say and talk about. We tend to focus and believe what the majority is believing. But, it is not that way. For example, you visit the heavenly Lavasa, see some dirt lying around in one part of that place and you think ‘it is a messy place, I will not visit it again’. And, you LEAVE. But, hey, WAIT, you did not ride around the entire place, it was just ‘one part’ of it that made you think that it is Messy? What if, you went around Lavasa, took a ride inside the divine beauty and not just see the outskirts and make an impression? It would have been much more pleasant! You miss the fun if you try to judge it at the First Impression.

That is what exactly happened with me on 22nd March 2016. I went for a Meditation Program. For the first 15 minutes of the program, I was dumbfounded, as I had no clue what is going to happen. Utter silence had taken space. One after the another, people came and sat on the floor. And, it was a complete surprise to see that no one was talking with each other, not even a ‘Hello’. Hell Oh, I felt like running off.

As soon as the program started, I felt more awkward, because I was not sure of what I have to do. Few minutes later, we were supposed to interact with each other, introduce ourselves to each other, and get to know the ones, with whom you were sitting in pin-drop silence for the first 30 minutes. I started feeling a little better because I now knew the ones around me. Having said this, the best part is yet to come.

The main program had now begun. Self-belief, letting go, meditation, smile and what not. It was such a jovial moment to experience ‘what I knew, but was not self-aware of and had not accepted’. After the program, I was a different person. 3 hours and my perception drastically transformed, for better.

I am not here to talk what I was taught in the program. Nor am I writing a review. What I want to say is, ‘Hold on to moments, do not decide at the first sight if it is best, good, bad or worst’, instead, ‘Take some time, experience it entirely and then you would be in a better condition to decide if it was Worst, Bad, Good or Best’.

Remember: Be it your life, your friends, your relationships or be it anything or anyone, NEVER judge it at the first sight. Do not let the first impression of the thing/place/person/situation fall into the deciding factor, give it some time. Know the whole story before you decide what is right and what is not.

The first impression, in this case, is not the last impression.
